What Does BIAB Mean?

BIAB (Builder in a Bottle) is a gel-based builder product, applied to the nail like a gel polish but formulated to add real strength and structure — similar to a builder gel enhancement. It can be used as an overlay on natural nails, to add a little length as a short extension, or to strengthen and repair a weak or damaged nail, all while staying as easy to soak off as a standard gel polish.

How Is BIAB Different From Gel Polish and Acrylic?

Gel polish is a colour-only system with little to no added strength — great for colour, but it won't reinforce a weak or bitten nail. Acrylic is a strong, durable enhancement system, but it involves more filing, a longer application process, and a more noticeable soak-off or removal process.

How Is BIAB Applied?

A typical BIAB application involves prepping and lightly filing the natural nail, applying the builder gel in thin layers (often using a self-levelling formula to help create a smooth finish), curing each layer under an LED lamp — usually in as little as 60 seconds — and finishing with a top coat. Properly trained application matters here: incorrect prep, over-filing or applying too thick a layer are common causes of lifting or an uneven finish.
