Nail technician is one of the fastest ways to build a career in Ireland's beauty industry, and one of the most flexible. You can work employed in a salon, go self-employed, or eventually open your own business. Here's what training actually costs, how long it takes, and which course is right for you.

Do you need a qualification to become a nail technician in Ireland?

You don't legally need a licence to work as a nail technician in Ireland, but in practice almost every salon, and every insurer, will ask for a recognised qualification before they'll hire you or cover you. That's why our courses are AIT accredited: you finish with a certificate that's recognised across the industry, not just a piece of paper from an in-house scheme.

Nail technician courses at NSI: what's the difference?

We run several routes into the industry from our Dublin training centre in Swords, depending on your starting point and how quickly you want to be working.

Complete beginners: start with one enhancement system

• NSI Beginner Acrylic Course (€660) – learn acrylic nail enhancements from scratch, hands-on, small class sizes.
• NSI Beginner Gel Course – the gel equivalent, for students who prefer working with gel systems.
• Gel Polish Course – a shorter, focused course if you only want to offer gel polish manicures rather than full enhancements.

Each of these is designed for someone who has never picked up a nail file professionally. No experience is required.

Our Nail Technician Course (€920) is our core qualifying course. It takes you from beginner to salon-ready, covering acrylic and gel enhancement, nail health, and hygiene standards, with a certificate you can use to get insured and get hired.

How much does nail technician training cost in Ireland?

Prices vary by course, from around €220 for a single-skill add-on up to €920–€1,550 for a full qualifying course or masterclass. We also offer Klarna instalment payment on all our courses, so you can spread the cost rather than paying it upfront.
